The Crown Plaza Hotel and The Bewley Hotel are two Manchester airport hotels that are just five minutes walk from either of the airports terminals.
Classed as a three star, The Bewley Hotel costs 79 ($160) a night and a wireless internet connection is included in the price. The new wireless system is a nice touch and makes it easily justify its 3 star status.
If you found this review whilst searching for Manchester airport hotels then its probably a given that you simply need a place to rest and freshen up whilst you wait for your connection and if that is the case, you will find The Bewley well suited.
Early wake up call is available for those early flights, as is a shuttle service if you have plenty of luggage and don't fancy the short walk. There is also a cash machine and a dining area with bar.
The Crown Plaza hotel is next door to The Bewley and like several other Manchester airport hotels, caters for the business flyer. Everything at The Crown Plaza is aimed at the expense account, although for my 135 ($270) I did get a buffet breakfast included. Playstation games, movies etc. were all charged to your credit card. Room service was available throughout the night although at $20 a beef burger, it was on the expensive side. The rooms were spacious by European standards and the hotels 4 star status was just about deserved.
There was no cash machine on the premises but as everything was charged to your credit card, this was not a problem. Internet access was available through a LAN and as with most Manchester airport hotels a free shuttle service was available although not on the day I stayed. Due to the Glasgow airport attack, no vehicles were allowed to drop off near the terminal entrances which was of course, perfectly understandable.
For short business trips from the airport such as Manchester Gatwick, Manchester Isle of Man etc. The Crown Plaza offers airport car parking at 15 ($30) a day. This was the cheapest I saw on offer during my time at the airport.
Both the Bewley and the Crown Plaza were staffed with pleasant, well trained people. The Bewley offered an early morning call where as the Crown Plaza didn't unless asked for but that is being rather picky. Having stayed in both during July 2007 I would not have a problem recommending either of these 2 Manchester airport hotels. If you are on your way to a vacation destination, try the Bewley first as it offers good value for money. If you are on a business trip and its on expenses, then the Crown Plaza offers that extra bit of luxury.
